The Foundry
Emergent Industries is composed of 2 companies steeped in a rich and long history. Lake Shore Foundry has been a family owned operation since 1940. Marinette Casting had been operating since 1973. Over the years, these companies have endured the many economic peaks and valleys primarily by providing industry recognized customer service and satisfaction. The resultant company, Emergent Industries, is staffed with trained professionals able to assist your company in assessing your non-ferrous sand and permanent mold casting needs. Our objective is to deliver a solution that will meet and exceed your company’s specific engineering and business objectives.
Emergent Industries’ professionals take pride in their work, paying strict attention to detail and delivering product quality. In order to better serve our customers, we provide a number of foundry services either directly or through our partners, including heat treat, impregnation, x-ray, machining, protective finishes, tooling design, core box construction, painting, metallurgy and non-destructive testing. Our diversified customer base allows us to provide a wide range of cast products including electrical power components, fluid handling, robotics, valve, and housing castings.
The foundry is capable of producing low to high quantity jobs. For the higher quantity projects, we are equipped with a Hunter automatic molding line which can produce castings weighing from a few ounces to 35 lbs in brass or bronze and up to 20 lbs in aluminum. The flask size on this line is 20”x24”, 6.5” over 5.5” with a 4” taper. Our new Sinto line will be up shortly to significantly increase our capacity.
For the low to medium quantity jobs, we utilize our squeezer and roto-lift lines. The squeezer molds can produce castings weighing from a few ounces to 20 lbs in brass or bronze to 15 lbs in aluminum. The flasks for the squeezer line run up to 18”x18”. Our roto-lift line can produce castings weighing up to 250 and 100 lbs in brass and aluminum respectively. These flask sizes range from 14”x18” to 26”x42”.

Materials
Emergent Industries primarily casts non-ferrous materials such as aluminum, copper, bronze and brass. All metal is melted using primary ingot with no outside scrap metal being melted. We take great caution not to contaminate our alloys. If requested, test bars can be poured and tested to certify chemical and physical properties. While we maintain a list of commonly poured alloys, it is important to note that this list is not all inclusive. Emergent Industries is flexible and capable of casting a wide variety of alloys.
We will work closely with your development team to ensure that the material chosen is best suited for your application and requirements. In the Designer’s Corner we offer information and resources to aid in choosing the right material, and as always, don’t hesitate to contact our experts to assist you with your alloy selection. Pistons
Tight tolerances, complicated geometries, multiple operations, and unique casting requirements are what make pistons one of the most challenging components to manufacture. Emergent Industries’ vast experience in the design and manufacture of pistons positions us as a unique provider of product but also of value-added engineering services. Our experiences bridge compressor, light and heavy duty combustion, and pump applications. We deliver both aluminum and cast iron pistons, in addition to related components such as rods, pins, rings and assemblies. We bring a unique set of experiences and tools to the table to ensure that your piston application is designed and produced to the application’s exacting specifications. Unlike many of the manufacturers, both domestic and particularly off-shore, we are equipped to produce small lots efficiently, which is critical in minimizing your risk exposure and holding costs.
